School-based Curriculum
We believe that learning English should be meaningful, engaging and empowering. Our school-based English Language curriculum is thoughtfully designed to help students use English confidently to think, express themselves, and connect with others. It also nurtures essential skills such as phonics, vocabulary building and presentation techniques.
We are committed to strengthening students’ reading, writing, listening, and speaking abilities through a wide range of authentic and purposeful learning experiences. To support this holistic approach, our curriculum is built around five key components:
‧ General English Programme
‧ Reading Programme
‧ Writing Programme
‧ Enrichment Programme
‧ Intervention Programme
Together with values education, which is essential for fostering students’ whole-person development, these programmes ensure that every child receives the support and inspiration they need to thrive in English — both inside and beyond the classroom.

Reading Programme: Library Lesson (Primary 1-3) &
Keys 2 Literacy Development Programme (Keys2, Primary 4-6)
By engaging students in active reading of authentic texts including real books and employing effective instructional strategies such as shared reading, guided reading, interactive activities and meaningful tasks, we introduce a variety of reading and decoding strategies that enrich students’ ability to approach texts with a broader perspective.
In Keys2, students practise essential skills such as predicting and imagining outcomes, skimming and scanning for specific information, identifying key elements and making inferences. Through consistent scaffolding and reinforcement, this process integrates advanced reading strategies into the curriculum, extending students’ higher-order and critical thinking skills to prepare them for future challenges.

NET Scheme
Supported by the Native-speaking English Teachers (NETs), our school is well-equipped to offer a variety of English-language programmes for our students.
The NETs play an integral role in implementing the curriculum, leading two flagship programmes in reading. With an enriched English-learning environment and regular interaction with NETs, our students have ample opportunities to practise their listening and speaking skills throughout the school day.

Enrichment Programme
Our Enrichment Programme aims to extend the more able students through different activities conducted during or after class time, inside or outside the school premises. To allow our elites to showcase their talents, we identify and encourage suitable candidates to participate in various training classes, activities and competitions, such as:
1. English Musical
Primary 3–6 students are selected to join our English Musical Training Class. This class aims to help students further develop their skills in communication, collaboration, creativity and cooperation. Through a variety of creative and expressive activities, students build confidence and foster all-round development. At the end of the school year, the team participates in the Hong Kong School Drama Festival and stages a live on-stage performance.
2. English Choral Speaking
As part of our school-based enrichment programme, our choral speaking team proudly represents the school at the Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival. Selected Primary 1–3 students rehearse regularly under the guidance of our teachers, honing pronunciation, rhythm and expression while fostering teamwork. Their spirited performance — blending clear articulation, dynamic gestures and cohesive harmony — showcases not only linguistic skills but also confidence and creativity. The experience enriches students’ public speaking and collaborative abilities, leaving them inspired for future challenges.

Cultural Tours
To broaden students’ horizons and foster essential personal growth, we organise cultural tours that allow them to immerse themselves in different cultures. Such exposure helps students develop cultural awareness, empathy and a global perspective — qualities that shape engaged, well-rounded global citizens.
In August 2025, the school joined forces with three Catholic Diocese primary schools to host the “Inter-school New Zealand Cultural & Ecological Exploration English Study Tour.” During their stay in Papamoa, the largest suburb of Tauranga, students attended classes at a local school and stayed with host families. This immersive experience deepened their connection to the local culture, boosted their English communication skills, broadened their horizons, and fostered greater independence and confidence.
The tour also celebrated New Zealand’s pristine natural beauty. At low tide, students explored the Tauranga Harbour estuary, discovering marine life and learning about ecosystems and food chains. They trekked through tropical rainforest at McLarens Falls Park, conducted stream research using bioindicators to assess water quality, and took nighttime forest walks to marvel at glowworm displays. At Te Puia Geothermal Park, they witnessed steaming hot pools erupt up close, which was an unforgettable spectacle. In Rotorua, they capped off their adventure with the thrilling gravity-driven Luge, bringing home memories to last a lifetime.
